Reports supporting the SSMEI Firth of Clyde Marine Spatial Plan
From 2006 to 2009, the SSMEI Pilot Project has pulled together existing reports and commissioned new ones to support proposed policies and action plan. These include a landscape/seascape assessment, a biodiversity review, a socioeconomic review, a seabed habitat mapping report, a local and structure plan policies summary and a key sector interactions report. Recreation and Tourism

Scottish Enterprise with support from the British Marine Federation commissioned a report published Feb 2010 on filling the knowledge and research gaps surrounding Scotland's sailing tourism sector. The key aim of the study was to:

'Establish the current contribution the sailing tourism sector makes to the Scottish economy and to highlight what potential there is within the sector with investment in new 'product' to grow GVA impact.'

In conclusion, the report identifies a broad framework for the future development of the sector highlighting issues that need to be addressed to ensure future success is achieved. New government report published 31.07.09 on the potential of the sea angling industry in Scotland. It is available at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2009/07/31154700/0 and includes section 6.6 on "Glasgow and the West" along with a case study on the decline of sea angling in the Upper Clyde (section (7.1).

  • Coastal Processes and Management of Scottish Estuaries. A report commissioned by Scottish Natural Heritage that  provides an audit of the contemporary and Late Quaternary (last 11,000 years) coastal landforms and processes present in the Firth of Clyde region.   • Clyde reBuilt: A report recently prepared by the Clyde Waterfront Working Group exploring the regeneration potential of the Clyde from Glasgow Green to Erskine Bridge. The Clyde Waterfront Working Group brings together representatives from Councils, Scottish Enterprise, local enterprise companies the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan Committee and the Scottish Executive. Renewal of Infrastructure

  • Climate Change: Flood Occurence Review (64KB) This study examines the likely impact of climate change on coastal flooding. It predicts that areas in the lower Clyde estuary are especially vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
